Why is this suddenly making news? Square-Enix has been posting about those action almost every week for years now...

Just last week they posted that they banned 5k+ between the time period: Feb. 18, 2021 to Feb. 24, 2021.

And more, the week before that, between Feb. 4, 2021 to Feb. 17, 2021 they banned over 10 000…

Admittedly this isn’t anything new. FFXIV puts out near-weekly Lodestone notifications about banned RMT behavior. Case in point:
