Those used to be skippable and they purposefully made them non-skippable so new players wouldn’t miss the huge story in those raids by feeling pressured to skip cutscenes. The whole point of Main Scenario Roulette is that you know it’s a time commitment.

That is actually a very good point.  While this sequence may be relatively safe in the West, that may not be the case in Japan.  Also, I happen to think that what makes this sequence great is that it makes queerness look normal, which I think it a good thing.
