I envy you.

I, fortunately, haven’t heard that used...yet. I probably would if I still went to car meets. I’m also not a Snapchat person. 29 going on 60...

Not only does text speak need to go away, but stuff like “swag” and “yolo” and this stuff here:

Yeah, Honda’s aesthetics have followed their fun factor off the cliff lately.

Honda’s been using it for 20+ years now, going back at least to the 4th gen Prelude of the early-mid 90s. To me, this new Civic looks like an 8th gen Accord coupe from the side.

The B21A1 engine in the 1990-91 Honda Prelude Si had FRM cylinder walls that wore out the piston rings prematurely. As the cars age they tend to burn oil worse and worse. Here’s mine, on its second engine.

I’ve seen 8th gen Si’s that already have clear coat peeling, so that doesn’t surprise me. My Prelude is a 2001, with the usual Honda rust, but otherwise it’s a tank. That the 8th gens are aspirational cars for stance kids is yet another reason I don’t want one.

The car eyes sunshades irritate me.

I know that feeling. In my Prelude I went from an H22 to an H23 VTEC. Officially the power numbers are almost identical (200 bhp/161 lbft for the H22 vs. 200 bhp/163 lbft for the H23), but like the K24 vs. the K20, the H23’s powerband is much more user-friendly. It takes off like a turbo car instead of a Honda. I love

It’s a bit cramped. I’m 5’7 so I didn’t have any issues when I drove one, but taller people have said it’s hard for them to fit in and most owners I know have been around my height. Other than that, fantastic car.

The 8th gen Civic Si. Sounded promising. Close-ratio 6-speed manual, factory LSD, huge aftermarket, good-looking in 4-door guise, reliable...thought it would be a nice follow-up to my wrecked VTEC Prelude. Then I test drove one. It felt lifeless, like an appliance. I ended up getting another VTEC Prelude as a junkyard

One night in 2012 I was coming home from work when I got hit in the right rear by a truck that ran a red light. No witnesses, and the other driver said I ran the red. (I didn’t; cross traffic in the lanes aside from his was stopped but they all kept going.) My car was totaled, but since neither of us was assigned

Nice argument. I’ll have a rebuttal in 25 years.

Cowabunga!

Yeah, this. I’ve let only one person drive my project/weekend car. It was someone I know can drive stick well and could handle the quirks of it, and even then it was only because I was too drunk to drive.

All cars come with a copy of the 25 Year Rule!

Yep, a choice of three engines (F22, H23, H22) from 1992-96, and just the H22 from 1997-2001. My beater 1993 has an F22, while my 2001 has a JDM H23 VTEC from a 1999 Accord wagon. Same peak power (200ish), but a much better torque curve. It’s a blast on back roads. You’re probably right about of them not often going

I feel bad that I don’t feel bad.

They are that. When I went to car meets I used to get crap from B-series kids about how heavy Preludes are. To be fair, a Prelude was usually a few hundred pounds heavier than its contemporary Civic or Integra, but these days even the lightest Civic weighs 27-2800 pounds.

Well said.
