I love the Dougie storyline and I love Dougie and his whole weird-ass family. I'm always sad when an episode is Dougie-lite. Dougie's world always makes me laugh…until it suddenly touches me and makes me cry.

I agree completely. He certainly doesn't romanticize it. I think that's why Lynch violence seems so much more violent than, say, something as gory as The Walking Dead. I think he goes out of his way to make sure that you never get accustomed or desensitized to it.

The autotune plus the lip syncing made me think of Mulholland Drive, when it was revealed that it was all a recording. Add the curtains and her zigzag dress, and it seems those choices were made for a reason.
