Bookmarking that page for future use. Also, I love the fact that their pipe-scent is called "this is not a pipe", even though I don't know why anyone would want to smell like a pipe at all.

That's already on my list but I haven't read it yet. Maybe I'll have to bump it up a few spots...

AND WIKIPEDIA SAYS THEY ARE FREE?!?! HOORAY!

Awesome! Thanks for the help.

Thanks! It's going on the list for sure.

Although I already own that book, thank you for responding! It's a good recommendation for anyone else who encounters this thread.

Thanks! Hugo and Nebula winners are always good bets! I will check it out.

That's what I call them, at least sometimes. There isn't really a better word for what I am wearing right now.

Uhhh go meet Gloria Steinem. Do lots of prepwork for the bake sale and send an apology email to your club members, but for the love of god, go meet Gloria Steinem.

That movie was a disappointment for me... I like Jean Kilborne's Killing Us Softly much better...

Hard 'g'! Hard 'g'! Hard 'g'! It is the way of things!

I like 1, 2 and 4.

Okay, I have a request: I want recommendations for beautifully written sci-fi by female authors (preferably ones I haven't heard of).

That's too bad. So far it's great. I'm baffled at their decision to put Ice-T in it, though, given his misogynistic tendencies and the fact that he is a horrible actor.

SVU started airing in 1999. I'm just late to the game.

I think "anything but straight" is wrong because obviously LGBTQIAPKKJSKJHJVSLDLJSIYFWSLK...-positive people support straight people too. But I agree that a single word instead of a clunky jumble of letters would be a wiser choice.

Intersex, asexual, pansexual.

I've only seen Season 1 and part of Season 2. They have a lot of things like, for example, the police that found the body says, "Well it was just a prostitute" and they're like "FUCK YOU THAT IS A HUMAN BEING AND YOU ARE A SHITTY PERSON."

Does Law & Order SVU get worse? I just started watching it. I'm in the middle of season 2 and so far I was impressed how well they showed that people who are victim-blaming are unempathetic scuzzbags.
