I can see at least a few definitions for a character being an anti-hero, but I don't think Hannibal fits any of them.

In the Nerdist Writers Panel podcast Fuller talks about the opening of episode 5, and he seems to be taking her death and peoples' reactions to it very seriously. I think him making light of it (as well as other stuff on the show) is just his way of dealing with all of the darkness he's creating.
Fuller has been rather loose lipped about spoilers as well.

What's kind of genius about this show is they had already set up Hannibal doing stuff off-screen, so you'd really believe that he was the one behind it.
