The dialogue about Carrie thinking she could have stopped 9/11 comes directly from the pilot. Sure, it's kind of laughable that she could have really done anything, but of course she thinks she could have; she's Carrie. (The Homeland wiki says she joined the CIA in 1999.)

Their sample size is quite large, actually. According to Wikipedia, it was 25,000 households as of 2009. By comparison, Gallup's national presidential polls have a sample size of 1000. (Edit: I've found another source saying 2700.)

So, is it cool to dislike her now? That would be a relief.

I assume you mean the 9th; the the 8th was "Flashes Before Your Eyes." Anyways, the show always had its share of stinkers. The first 6 were unique in that it was a sustained stretch of stinkers and not very goods.

It was really just the first six episodes that were weak. The rest of the of the season (though inconsistent) is about as good as seasons one and two.

I think most would cite "PK Tech Girl" and "DNA Mad Scientist" as the first good/great episodes.

The early part of the first season is pretty standalone, so episode order shouldn't be much of problem unless you're trying to watch along with the reviews. They talk on the commentaries about their disagreements with the network on making the show more serialized, with the "Nerve" / "Hidden Memory" two parter later

OMIGOD I CAN FOLLOW FARSCAPE NOW.

They took a vote during the episode?

Then why didn't Schur sure set the record straight that only 13 were guaranteed? Was he under some kind of embargo? That would have really sucked for the fans if they got fewer episodes than they were promised.

My rule of thumb is about 100 episodes, which allows for cable shows like The Shield, The Sopranos, and Curb Your Enthusiasm.

Someone post a link in the comments and then everyone make sure to like it. If you're sorting by most liked it should be the first comment.

Fuck you Netflix for having the later seasons of Buffy in 16:9.

I think it was always next weekend.

I think I came out of it wanting to believe the cannibal story because, as awful as it was, it fits with my belief systems. Even though I know next to nothing about lifeboats or zoo animals, I had to view the stuff with the tiger as a wonderful bit of magical realism. Also, I'm perfectly fine accepting stories within

What with the wide shot of the island as a man, I thought it was Pi's way of trying to cope with the cannibalism. That's probably a shallow reading though.
