You should put at the top of the article “STILL NO EXPLANATION FOR HOLDO’S HORRIBLE LEADERSHIP OR WHY SHIPS HAVEN’T BEEN LIGHTSPEED RAMMING EACH OTHER FOR YEARS.”
While I’m all for throwing shade at ill-conceived SyFy series, you still have ads for Krypton plastered everywhere on the site right now, so, you know, glass houses.
Civil War is a modern classic, you cretin.
(For io9ers not immersed in the sports world, Brown, an 82-year-old fullback who played with the Cleveland Browns for several years in the 1950s and ‘60s, is widely lauded as one of the greatest football players of all time.)
So any claim that TLJ was good or did anything good will now be considered “defending” the movie?
I think it’s kind of despicable that this site continues to flog the divide of audiences for this movie like this. It’s a near multiple daily set of posts designed and written to foster the arguements.
“Johnson was daring enough” — Really?
“Oh, no room for Bender eh? Well I’m gonna go start my OWN sci-fi cantina! With blackjack! And hookers! In fact... forget the sci-fi cantina!”
From a story telling perspective, Civil War had to have been one of the worst movies ever made. I mean just how stupid the bad guy’s plan and plot is insulting to everyone’s intelligence. I cannot believe that anyone bought off on the script and said, “yeah, that works.”
Rewatched Civil War before going to see Black Panther. The action sequences in the first half of the film are some of the best commited to film. Hard hits look like HARD HITS. And it isn’t a green screen extravaganza.
Now that the first wave of Ready Player One reviews have confirmed what the earliest trailers for the film suggested—that it’s over-reliant on genre culture nostalgia because its story is sorely lacking
Well if it’s anything like Civil War, the actual individual heroes’ stories will be glossed over to make room for fanservice and novel interactions between characters anyway#foreversaltyaboutcivilwar it will be fucking awesome!
Thank you. I really hate this “Nathan Drake is a complete psycho because he mows down a lot of mooks” Yeah, because it is a videogame. If it was a movie, he wouldn’t mow down so many goons, because those are gameplay elements, not story ones.
Oh come on, so your argument is that the prequels uses the Force incorrectly because they don’t wait until absolutely necessary to use it? I don’t know what your definition of emergency is, but I would qualify the heat of battle to be an appropriate time to use whatever you have at your disposal.
Your “amen” would fall on pretty deaf ears. Hawking was an atheist. Not that that should stop you from believing, or saying the things that match up with what you believe in, I’m just pointing it out.
“Excuse me Professor, but might you be able to tell me how we can defeat this great evil?”
“We throw an orphan at it.”
“You can’t be-”
“Did I stutter?!”
What’s more hipster than I hate this thing people are enjoying and so I’m going to slight it with detached woke-ism. This is peak kinja.
If Charlie Jane were still around, I’d imagine she’d have sent this back to Evan with a single line: “Ok, but what about the movie?”
Ahh, 2018, a time where the most important factor of somebody is the colour of their skin. Keep on keeping on my ‘woke’ life participant.
