"Graveyard" up here in the Pac Northwest. I wonder if anyone's done a soda vs pop map for the name for the all soda mix.

The only way 2016 will redeem itself: bring out a Michael Caine themed energy drink.
In the words of Rob Sheffield:
"Dusty Springfield never wrote any of hits. Paul Anka wrote all his. Who would you rather hear?"
It's a teaching style, not a copywriteable or patentable thing. It's like complaining about "stealing" Ricky Henderson's batting stance.
Holy crap, a Walter Mercado reference on the AV Club!

By the way, what's the status of the Violent Femmes debut in the UK? In the U.S. it's an album that, although it totally flopped on release, a lot of the songs have become staples on radio and most people who like anything slightly out of the ordinary have heard it. Or is it more a cult record in Britain?
Because they write actual songs with hooks and choruses? Because they can play their instruments well?
Wow, you sound like someone in 1979 trying to defend Toto. And that's the problem with the band that once was produced by George Clinton.
It actually was. I've heard a number of accounts that said that virtually bassless 80s sound was due to cocaine use. Cocaine apparently really hurts your ability to hear high frequences, so to compensate all those 80s acts had to jack up the treble so much all the rhythm sound sound terrible.
Does anybody remember the German Chocolate Blizzard from the early 90s. I ate those on a weekly basis as a kid; once it got dropped I barely bother with Blizzards.
BTW, why a banana split Blizzard? Who on earth would choose a banana split blizzard when an actual banana split is on the same menu?
Who under the age of 50 still reads the newspaper comics?
Oddly enough Barnes and Noble has started selling classical music on vinyl, since that was the first genre to abandon LPs in the 80s.
Has there ever been a good rock opera? If Tommy and the Wall are any indication, rock operas are single LPs padded into doubles by reusing a lot of musical themes.
Really? It took 30 minutes for this story to be up before someone used "their appeal is getting more selective" line? You're slipping, AV Club
Read Shawn Levy's excellent bio of Lewis, "The King of Comedy". Dino was not surprisingly drunk during this bit and Jerry was very upset by that. Plus Jerry was so high on painkillers he had to be reminded the next day Dean showed up.
Oh Captain and Tenille didn't have any dumb videos you say?

May God have mercy on your soul.
The Yankees going from Mel Allen to Phil Rizzuto to John Sterling is the ultimate argument against evolution and progress.
Actually I once read in American Heritage a "could the Presidents be saved" article and you're right. You had multiple doctors, many of whom didn't even do basic precautions such as disinfecting their hands, trying to root out the bullet. Sad thing is a modern doctor noted the bullet wasn't threatening any vital…
Are midnight movies still a thing? I remember seeing Blazing Saddles, Holy Grail, and Repo Man at Tacoma's Grand Cinema, but they haven't done that in years.
Guinness world records are nearly useless now, http://www.bloomberg.com/ne… since you can actually pay to get a world record.
Turn onto Univision (synergy!) if you can. They did the full morning show on Gabriel, and now the whole noon hour is about him too. I can't think of any celebrity, or for that matter anyone who's not the President or Pope who would get this kind of coverage.
