I was speaking with a retired Chicago cop this past weekend... a friend’s father. He said the best call to get was robbery in progress because you get so pumped up on the ride there. I thought he was just talking about the endorphin rush you get when you think something is going to go down. But no. “The excitement you

actually... from where i sit over in europeland... we dont hate americas army.... we hate the fuckers that tell them where to go

America’s fetishization of the military and violent police officers in Hollywood isn’t new in the slightest. I can’t think of a single tv show about police that treats the Constitution as anything more than a terrible hindrance forcing good cops to let criminals go.

All three of those are comedies Al-beit with dark military premises. Most of them poked fun at the jingoistic ‘America my country ‘tis of the’ attitude of the occasional guess star.

No, they don’t. They tell him to drop the knife, over and over again. One guy is yelling, “DUDE!! PUT IT DOWN!! PLEASE!!” But yelling, while guns are trained on the guy. I was trying to figure out when the deescalation training was going to kick in, but it really never did in any meaningful way.

“People”, yes, but cops signed up for this and are wearing vests for just that reason. Military rules of engagement often include some form of, “Do not fire until fired upon.” Police would do well to follow a similar protocol. A large number of PoC would still be alive today if that were the case.

It’s not just the rest of the world. I find this stuff boring as shit. Let me guess the plot: dangerous mission to save a stereotypically innocent, virtuous person (white woman, native child), unforeseen difficulty, near failure, valiant success due to american soldiers’ cunning and bravery. Stay tuned next week, same

Do these same organizations protest about cameras at retail stores, trained on employee stations, cameras they routinely use to investigate crimes?

I’m bewildered by the argument of police organizations about the *privacy* aspects of being recorded at work.

I’m sure the NRA will be all over this violation of a gun owners right to bear arms in his own home being violated, demanding that someone pay for this travesty.

MHMMMM. Last i checked if i want to stand with a gun in my own home... totes legal.

The release of this footage sets a dangerous precedent that jeopardizes police officers’ right to lie their asses off whenever they murder someone. The district attorney’s investigation into the case is still ongoing — maybe Richards gave the officers The Evil Eye, the most deadly Black Power. You know how those

Hey, if I stop paying attention to the NBA in late March, the players should be allowed to also.

Lynch had previously criticized the use of body cameras in general, saying they presented “serious concerns for the rights and safety of both police officers and the public.”

he’s pissed off the judge & prosecutor- minimum security is at their discretion- and I’m thinkin’ they ain’t feeling too charitable or understanding.

Solidarity among employees worked. What a concept.

Who’d have thought this would be the Hill ESPN chose to die on

You joke (or do you...?), but that’s not exactly the craziest thing that I could see happening.

Fermented chaos is best chaos

Maybe but ESPN still has the right to say “you work for us and this makes us look bad so you’re fired” regardless of that. If I do something in my personal life and it comes back to my employer, I can be fired. If she does it and it alienates people it can literally derail an entire show. I agree with her thought
