I left my gums
In an LAX stall
Grinned a grin
On Rodeo Drive
I kissed some arse
At a table read -
Dirty old town…dirty old town.

I'm half-convinced that the immortal soul of Emmylou Harris stole her body about ten years ago.
The use of 'loose' for 'lose' is unbelievably, mind-bogglingly, depressingly prevalent. I genuinely live in fear that people who spell it 'lose' will someday be the minority.
"Is that an Oscar I see before me?"
I'm going to take this opportunity to rant about Kitchen Nightmares, which I've seen the last ten or fifteen minutes of way too many times (I'd leave it on so I wouldn't miss the start of Fringe). What really irks me is the redecorating of the restaurants: they're always the same design, with slight variations, and…
I think that's because it kind of mirrors our relationship to the show as viewers - it sits in your Thursdays, and in your brain, for so long it creeps into your life until you kind of take it for granted. But then when its over, part of you craves the acknowledgement that, yes, I remember, and I think of our time…
One of the reasons that I think his few moments were so effective: he is so clearly brimming with emotion - probably partly genuine on Carell's part, but it comes across as a mixture of fatherly pride, tenderness, and the happiness of reunion.
Actually, there's very few shows I don't watch from the very beginning for some years now so New Girl has definitely been an exception in my watching pattern. The reason being: I only idly tuned in from time to time during the first season and the start of the third, so it took awhile for the realization to build…
I haven't participated in the recap discussions here, but I'd just like to express my appreciation for how much I like this show. After idly checking it out a few times last season and early in this one, it was probably "Eggs" where I realized how much I enjoy watching these characters, and not long after that when I…
We've got Ignatius Reilly - a character from an actual goddamn book!
"They're GROSS! — but they still get girls!"
I watched the original miniseries about a year ago - it holds up surprisingly well, and definitely could benefit from a cultural retrospective, twenty years on.
And when I say that there is none, I mean that there is some.
I've always been fond of this episode for the reasons you both cite - plus, I still like to find a way to worm in "We think youse a haint!" into casual conversation.
That said, the buildup to the climax was vastly more enjoyable than the climax.
Asimov was particularly good at the "bang! Gotcha!" ending.
"Well, here's to us."

Rucka's great at that, too.
Thanks! It looks like he also shot Cronenberg Jr.'s Antiviral, which makes a lot of sense, as well as three other episodes of this show. Okay, another thing I can't seem to Google - that aria. It is beautiful and I want to hear it again. Can any opera enthusiasts identify it?
