Confession: I now always think of Leonard Pierce whenever I see shots of Pearce as Leonard. Not only did his userpic kind of remind me of a slovenly Pearce, the whole 'revisionist history' thing only strengthened this weird association.

As someone who's read the character on and off for around twenty years, I really enjoyed Constantine - though it did take me until just recently to come to peace with the movie's existence enough to watch it.

Excellent point. Like 'memento mori', the artistic concept of 'tabula rasa' should be kept in mind when viewing this film. What better way to both mirror and deepen the plight of the protagonist than to set it all firmly in the generic sprawl of Americana?

The whole faux Victoriana/Gothic Lolita corsets-and-flounces thing really fails to do anything for me - but Jones' Manic Cryptic Dream Anthropomorphisation really hit me in the sweet spot.

Maybe this is just an internet thing, but it seems like in every comic site and message board I've ever frequented, it seems like the majority of commenters hate Kelley Jones. I think they're nuts, personally - I think Kelley Jones' art is never less than stylish and interesting, and sometimes brilliant - but I guess…
