Bond, like any self-renewing cultural artifact, reflects the times he's in. Swinging, glam, bloodthirsty, hammy, sci-fi, gritty, deconstructive, self-parodying - there's a Core Bond that always remains the same, but everything around it changes.

This is it - now everything is in focus. The bomb has been dropped; our leads are at odds, whether they know it or not, and the rippling waves of what went down in this episode will be felt til perhaps even the very end. In a real sense, the stakes are even higher now than when the season started.

Implanting enhancements, ones that very probably will alter both body and mind, is not something that happens without repercussions. Note that he decides to use the tech after the Observer 'taunts' him about how his emotional state - rage, grief, desperation - weaken him, allowing him to make irrational judgements. …

I'm extremely loath to hand out propers to the likes of Katy Perry, but that Jane-hair is fucking boss.
