Unlike any other show I've got notifications for, I barely pay any attention to the body of the article, because it's 90% opinion, of which I agree with 10% of the time.

The most interesting aspect of a show like SNL, writing-wise, is its state of constant change, and one could get a lot of mileage either looking forward (analyzing the progress of various cast members, speculating on who's 'got it' and who don't), or looking back (contrasting the present with the 20+ years of history

…I tried to find the quote of Donnie Darko talking about Christina Applegate while putting his hand down his pants on YouTube, but no dice.

Something that keeps me from hating The Californians is that, really, the only practical life experience that all SoCal denizens have in common is traffic - so when they use that as a life metaphor, like in the wedding vows, it kind of tickles me.

Throughout the episode I was continually stunned by the eerie Wiigyness of Applegate's various characters - similar mannerisms, speech patterns, body language; she even looked a lot like Wiig at certain moments (especially the dance sketch).

As a comics fan, I was heartened to see the kid was rocking out his own DIY Fringe zines - and I loved his depiction of Walter as a full-on, goggled & labcoated, cackling mad scientist (which he later resembles when assembling the suit).
