Well, that viewpoint seems downright frightening to me as someone who loves comedy. There will never be a joke that everyone agrees is funny or not funny. In making offensive jokes, you're guaranteeing some people will be pissed off. Does that automatically mean it's not funny, or is there some percentage that makes

Personally, when hearing a republican senator refer to "working in the fields", my mind immediately goes to slavery.

I guess I saw it as more of an play on words rather than Maher trying to "compare" himself to a slave? That doesn't make sense to me.

I guess I think of "edgy" as meaning more actually having something uncomfortable/radical to say through humor, rather than an off-the-cuff, innocuous play on words.

I honestly don't see how the joke was "edgy" at all. Imo it's just hard to hear arepublican senator say "come work in my fields" without the mind immediately going to slavery. But honestly I don't watch Bill's show much anymore, for the simple fact that the constant applause gets so obnoxious.

Veep is much, much funnier than Maher, it's true. But it's also much more offensive.

Seriously, HBO which has shows like Veep? Maher's joke was pretty inoffensive compared to a lot of the stuff on their channel. Now the asshole Ben Sasse looks like the good guy here. But at least we're holding a comedian accountable for making a dumb joke!

Hasn't Maher used the N-word on air many times before? Weird to see uproar over a lame innocuous joke like this.

Loved Season 3 but felt like it was wrapped up pretty well so I didn't keep watching. Seemed like it should have just been a miniseries.

I viewed it as more of a cartoon than anything close to reality, but ok.

I thought the video I saw of this was pretty funny. Reminded me of Looney Tunes or something. But I guess it doesn't fit with the delicate sensibilities of people today. I do wonder how she signed on without knowing the main concept of the film though. Seems like a flimsy excuse. She should just own it, it's just a

Bummed about both this and The Get Down. Imo they were two of Netflix's best dramas.

I don't get it. New at whut?

Hopefully they have another great, hilarious Hillary cameo!

It was entertaining enough, but there were sometimes I found it kind of annoying. RuPaul and Norm were great in it though.

I always thought his relationship with Claire was supposed to remind us of the Clintons too.

I think the thing with Jonah was that he accidentally stumbled onto a good idea for completely self-serving, ridiculous reasons.

Does that mean more Pinky and the Brain too?

Like it was her decision lol.

Lol I missed that one.
