People aren’t arguing this is where they were heavily nudging her towards. They’re arguing it got there in such a stupid way it really shouldn’t have happened.

its more the way, it felt like spectacle for the sake of spectacle and yelling SEE JON IS THE ONE FOR THRONE.

The entirety of his contributions were this: Staring blankly at things, stabbing one of his own men, and then shouting "RUN AWAY!".

I thought that wildfire had been put there by Cersei and Qyburn, as a nasty surprise for Daenerys’s troops, to kill them with a lot of the smallfolk.

Was The Hound really that consumed by revenge? He spent like 6+ seasons not working to achieve it. All his talk about killing Gregor seemed like faux tough guy talk.

We got a mega dose of characters acting stupidly and out of character. Jaime is just going to leave his main challenger to slowly die of a stomach wound? Arya spends most of the episode running around. Jon continues to be the worst military commander of all time. Dany goes completely insane. Tyrion keeps talking about

I’m not against Dany going ‘Mad Queen’ per say... but having it be done when everyone’s surrendered seemed like some lazy writing to force Dany v. Jon.

So, after eight seasons, the theme of the show is basically “bitches be crazy (or victims).”

Good Lord! GRRM wanted ten seasons, HBO wanted ten seasons.  Couldn’t these fuckers pass the torch to someone else?

Dany is the only character who conquered cities, forced her vision of a culture upon them, and then abandoned them instead of staying to rule.

After 7 seasons being told my the narrative and production that Dany was the queen we wanted, this is a horrible injustice to the character and her entire narrative. And poor Emilia Clarke was forced to try to make us believe (with another long pointless stare) in her inhumane decision to torch the city after they

The Cleganebowl was the only storyline that worked. Arya’s almost did, had she died instead of magically surviving 17 different walls collapsing on her.

Credit where it’s due: Emilia Clarke has usually not been much more than a decent actress (though I’ve often defended her from critics who assert she’s bad, which I don’t think she has been), but she has been absolutely wonderful this season, even as the writing for her character has turned into a trainwreck.

Not bad, we’re missing a lot of connective tissues to make this work. D&D once again rushing to a conclusion. Thoughts:

Euron can sense main characters from 100 miles away. It’s one of his powers that he has.

Awful episode in terms of narration, fantastic in terms of visuals.

I think there’s room for Arya to consider what’s next for her after bagging the ultimate kill. I could even see the Hound being the one to show Arya the perils of letting revenge consume you. Of course, none of that narrative work actually happened on screen.

What an utterly baffling episode. It’s almost like this show got cancelled and the producers clapoed their hands and said, “Mm’k, let’s get this shit over with.” And then proceeded to finish the series out in the most basic way possible while ignoring 90% of the built of mythos of the books and the last 7 seasons

So the bells made Dany into a crazed mass murderer? I understand her going off the deep end, but killing hundreds for no reason struck me as forced.

The scorpions were only as accurate and powerful as the plot needed them to be.
