There's nothing like seeing your very first photo bloom to life in a tray of developer in the darkroom. The people who've only taken photos in the digital world won't understand this.

I go to the regular supermarket in the morning and look on their day-old shelves. There, I stock up on all the name-brand bread, bagels, English muffins and rolls I can stuff in the shopping cart, take them home and freeze them. It's a rare day indeed when I pay as much as $3 for any one item.

Buy tuna at Costco. They sell it in 7-oz cans rather than the downsized 5-oz cans the supermarkets carry. Also cases of their "facial tissue" and Mexican soft drinks with real sugar.

I peeled off all the screen protectors, but I still have a drawer full of disks.

Aeropress FTW.

Swiss Army Mini Champ. It's got it all.

If it were only one book being delivered that would be reasonable. However, in many areas the books just never stop coming. Yes, we recycle them, but what a waste to create all that paper that just goes right back to the recyclers.

Yeah, it happens in LA for sure. Now, if they'd deliver one copy of all the bazillion regional phone books it might actually be useful. But as it stands, you get a bazillion copies of one region plus another bazillion knockoffs by phone book wannabes. Plus all the local grocery stores have huge stacks of soggy phone

It's most efficiently done by two people. There's a one-way gizmo that fits into the filler neck, that keeps water from burping out along with the air. One person holds onto this, and the other pushes down on the opposite end of the bed, moving toward the filler and pushing the air bubbles that way. It only takes a

Yes, I looked at it, but I'd prefer a free app.

I've been here, just not as talkative as I used to be. :)

I'm still looking for a blogging app for Mac that's the equivalent of Semagic. Everything I've found so far either costs way too much or is designed for ancient versions of OS X. Since I switched to Chrome I can't use Deepest Sender any more.

Flip the mattress? Uh... not if you've got a waterbed, you don't. You do have to burp the mattress now and again, but you'll know when that's necessary.

If you still want soda, Zevia is the way to go. They've got all the popular flavors and none of the nasty chemicals. And it tastes great. Costs more than the standard chemical-ridden junk, but that works in favor of not guzzling it like water.

I tried running it on my brand new Mac Mini, but it doesn't do anything more than bounce the C all over the dock.

I recommend the Missing Manual series of books, plus "OS X Lion Portable Genius" and "Mac Kung Fu" for all kinds of hot tips and tricks.

You pretty much have to be going for something popular, though. I haven't seen a refurbished Mac mini like the one I just bought (the least expensive of three options) ever.

I've used TaxAct, TurboTax and the H&R Block program, which seems to change its name every year. None of them are perfect. Even though our taxes are relatively simple, every one of those programs had issues that annoyed the bejeebers out of me. As other people have mentioned, Intuit's copy protection schemes have been

I usually use swivel clasps, if the zipper's large enough.

My cat has a Twitter account @TybaltDCat but he's getting lazy in his old age. And he eats Fussie Cat food, which is mostly tuna. I think he's happy. :)
