I’m not sure that you understand, you cannot have a horsepower figure without measuring the torque. Torque is measurable, while horsepower is calculated.

That is pretty amazing that in less then 10 years ago the only long range car was a 2 seat sports car based on a lotus. Now we can tow a trailer and have 7 seats, the next 10 years we will probably see long haul ev trucks

Range for the P100 is actually over 300 miles rated by the EPA (combined city + hwy = 315), which is better than a lot of ICE cars. I would think a day of spirited driving should get you 200 mph easy. The range anxiety arguments really don’t hold up for electric cars anymore, unless you are planning a lengthy road

Yes, but you only get 2 gears and one of them is reverse.

nobody commenting on how cool it is that the thing takes just a few seconds to get to peak output. that’s fucking insane. usually you see superhorsepowermachines doing 10+ second dyno pulls. this thing just rips 900 pounds of torque in a few seconds

The real answer to your question is “who gives a rat’s ass?”

If you start at the charging station in York, ME and take I95 through Rhode Island, eventually ending at the supercharger in Paramus, NJ, you can hit seven states. Just don’t hit traffic, turn on the heat, drive too fast, or turn on the radio....

hp is derived from torque. The torque measured in the video is a measure of torque the tires apply to the drum and would apply to the road. That is 920 ft-lbs. at the wheels.

So what? My TL is a lot of fun off the line too, and it would suck on a race track. The Model S is not a race car. It was never intended to be a race car. The closest most people get to racing is flooring it at a stop light. The Model S is king of the mountain in that game.

And your point is? Isn’t that true of extreme power for a lot of vehicles? The Bugatti Veyron goes 250+ mph, but you can only sustain that speed for like 12 minutes before you ran out of gas; at 15 minutes (if you had that much fuel) the tires would blow up. A few very quick accelerations to 60 mph might kill your

watch the damn video

Yes, Teslas are not good on the track.

I have a different definition for a car’s “soul”.

You know, this “tunnel” is the kind of thing they’ll have to do on mars for a mars colony. Its always important to remember why Elon Musk is doing these things - in most other cases things like this make you think of government waste and have you make jokes about evil super-villain plans from politicians.

Nor are you a civil engineer.

I mean, his biggest output other than the first successful automotive startup in the last 80 years or so. And the hundred thousand plus electric cars that it has already built. And the rockets that land themselves.

Beyond that, what’s this guy ever done to back up his boasting?

Whats so wrong about having disdain for a religion thats fueling most of the wars, mass killings, over all horrible shit thats happening around the world?

I know islam isnt to blame for everything, but it is to blame for a lot of shit within the last 30 years or so. Not to mention the endless fighting in the middle

Today I learned Ferrari means Blacksmith. Now it all make sense... the blacksmith sets things on fireee to make it better.

His name is DoucheMcBaggus man. You have to expect these things.

Acting—displaying a range of feelings deeply and convincingly—is overrated in this genre. Arnold Schwarzenegger is not a good actor, but he’s a great action hero. Probably the best ever. Point Break, the Matrix series, Speed, and, now, the John Wick is a pretty damn impressive collection, too.
