1. Run flats run for a rather limited range. 50 miles or so. So you pretty much have to drop what you’re doing and head over to get that fixed. Which can be difficult as flats can happen after hours, or on weekends.

This is no surprise, is it? I would be shocked, shocked I tell you, if you said more than 25% of people driving around knew how to change a tire.

Modern cars have too much tech for their own good.

You’re comparing 30-40 mile commutes to 500+ mile trips...apples and giraffes.

This is too general. Some cars benefit from decreased back pressure, but most wouldn’t see the muffler as the main bottleneck. Cats, DP and midpipe (with a tune) would be better places to start if you’re gonna mess with the exhaust

It wouldn’t be nearly this bad if the media hadn’t told people to panic. Anytime the media gets involved with this sort of thing it always gets blown so out of proportion. Experts are saying if people hadn’t panicked there would be little to no issues with getting gas.

Not to be a downer, but is fighting a ticket like this really worth the time and effort? Unless loud exhaust fines are significantly higher than I thought they were, it seems like the combination of lawyer fees and the time you’d have to spend dealing with this would quickly make it not worth it.

If you’re ever going to attempt something this noble and foolish, find the thickest pair of gloves you can, and separately the longest pair, and wear both.

I wouldn’t drive a GTI unless it were free. I mean entirely free, like, not just the car, but fuel, insurance and maintenance covered too. Basically, a company car. That’s the only way.

Is that just general VW hatred, or something specific towards the Golf/GTI? I don’t own one, but I’ve driven a Mk7 on several occasions and really, really enjoyed it.
