Skipping sections is fine if the game actually allows to skip them. Since he picked the Master Key Gift, that's fine, that's smart, so I've no complaints there. The game lets the player do that. I didn't see that because the menu is in Japanese of the video.

I'm 40 hours in and just got to the swamp section. It was a spoiler alert for me, but I was curious enough to not care about that. The player skips most of the extras, so there's plenty I can find.

Sonic only fights Perfect Chaos as Super Sonic so I imagine that's still there. However, all the fights are probably being redesigned.
