There is such a thing as a rhetorical question. And the way the author used it is a common technique in starting a piece of writing. It’s not literally asking everyone to answer the questions in the comments.

I wasn’t necessarily saying his comment was suggesting “reverse racism” that was more for the commenters in the greys. His comes off as more of the eagerly dismissive variety.
