@Ryan: Yes. Because Apple has always shown a knack for creating complicated non-streamlined systems.

@iceph03nix: Do you have a credit card? cash? checks? debit cards?
@MaWeiTao: iTunes is the proxy. All the billing will (theoretically) happen via iTunes as it normally does.
@OCEntertainment: Apple will most certainly tie down their NFC technology to their applications/services.
@Arggh! there goes a...snake a snake!: Retailers are already paying to accept credit cards. $1.50 per AMEX transaction, $0.50 per VISA/Mastercard + a percentage of the sale. It's the reason a lot of store fronts don't accept AMEX (high fees) and Mom and Pop stores don't accept credit cards at all.
@Shawn Rosvold: Well the difference being Apple has an installed base of iTune users with credit cards attached to their accounts. Retailers would love access to have access to that.
@WestwoodDenizen: NFC is already implemented all around you. It's getting people to use it that's the problem.
@RuckingFetard: I'll disagree with you on that one. I'd love to be able to carry around just my phone and my license. Especially if I didn't have to sign up for it. If Paypal, Google, or Apple (all of which have at least one of my CC's attached to an account - scary enough) offered this I'd be all over it.
@daqman: Or if you don't have an iPhone you can simply not buy one and continue to carry around your card.
@Cintax: The guy who built the Palm webOS notification system now works for Apple. So you're not the only one who has taken notice.
@johnsonjunk: Consumers don't care about specs. Geeks on blogs do - myself included.
@JaCooP: I know this is a tired cliche'd comparison but by your logic a 500HP Pontiac G8 should be more expensive than a 400HP Porsche because it is more powerful.
@MSI, Captain Nonanon: Two completely different situations.
The acting was bad because it was supposed to be bad. I thought that was obvious. The cliched slow motion, the Scorsese like intro of the girl, the overdone effects, the cheesy one liners. I doubt these guys were trying to win a Oscar.
@EnochLight: Yes. But Apple charges a premium for their products.
@vein11: The difference being Apple can convince people to buy $800 tablets. People "overpay" - some would say - for their computers all the time. They own over 90% of the $1,000+ PC market.
Any guess on how many times the fart app joke has been done? I'm guessing you might have been # 10 billion!
@Greg Krynen: Like someone noted above there is an iPhone app that you can program to fake ring at a certain time, show a fake incoming call screen (complete with caller ID pick) and let you answer the call with the added bonus of a in call screen (complete with timer.
@Apoc28: A password protected account is not public. Theres an expectation of privacy there. Which is why this was a crime.
