Gay marriage isn't the most pressing civil rights issue for LGBT people.

Racial profiling, the war on drugs, constant attacks on abortion/birth control rights, pretty much every single trans right ever, homelessness (particularly LGBT homelessness), LGBT conversion therapy, surveillance of all kinds of minorities especially Muslims, immigration, so on and so on and so on.

Way bigger civil rights issues. Calling it the most pressing civil rights issue is offensive to pretty much every single minority group out there.

"Meanwhile, on the most pressing civil rights issue of the times—gay marriage"
No.
No, no, no, no, no.
No.

What knockers!

I'm not worrying about his feelings at all, I'm just putting it out there that even if it might work for one person doesn't mean it works for everyone. And that using those terms outside of their own personal sexual play has bigger implications than themselves.

There are common phenotypes, but race is too complex to really consider a physical feature. And people really easily equate a race with the stereotype they have in their head of that race and dismiss people who don't look like that based on the color of their skin or anything similar. I'm starting to digress

Well the difference is that race is a social construct, where as height is an actual physical feature.

Well, they can keep the dehumanization easily by just referring to him as their big cock. Pretty easy to dehumanize someone into a sexy lump of flesh without bringing race into it

Maths stands for Mathematical Anti-Telharsic Harfatum Septomin.

I'm Asian too! And I don't have any Mexican fixations.

Oh I absolutely agree with your points. But was the backlash to this really so horrible and overwrought? Has anyone in this comment section looked at the actual response to the episode?

In P&R and New Girl, I felt the joke was the very fact of those characters' clueless appropriation of other cultures. Was it the case in this HIMYM episode? I haven't bothered to watch it.

Please be sure to let me know when I'm allowed to be offended.

There's also them caving in and putting back Duck Dynasty merchandise after some customers complained about the removal

I'm just starting to get my first big cold. I'm all drippy and sneezy and everything is awful.

I prefer to identify as queer, but I'm essentially gay (like a 5 on the Kinsey scale). Queer is appealing to me as well for the strangeness factor, especially because I don't want to encourage (hetero)normativity. And frankly the people I've met that use or identify as queer are virtually always the most welcoming and

Ok, I appreciate that reply. I can see your viewpoint, but I just disagree that by using the term "queer" that I am giving power to those who would use it negatively. At worst, they just don't care whether or not we use it for ourselves. At best, our use of it will help to lessen the damage that occurs when the word

"Your use of this word reflects upon everyone else in LBGT and is hindering the cause of us getting respect by the straight norm."
"thinking it is okay because it is accepted by straight society (even if it was you that turned it into being accepted)"

Additionally, it appears (from the promos at least) is that the joke is that a fat rapper is not what you'd expect when you think of a gay man. Which relies on gay stereotypes as its only punchline
