I think that some of that just stems from their sense of entitlement. When you live a consequence free life you don’t developp any skills in risk management.

Perhaps of note: Gaetz was the ONLY member of Congress to vote against a 2017 bill which provided tools to help combat human trafficking.  The vote was 418-1.  That one vote was the lump of sun-drenched cottage cheese that currently serves the 1st district of Florida.

My partner and I were talking last night about how there are still adults out there that believe in Noah’s ark and virgin births and people turning into pillars of salt. And then I thought of all the things we need to do as a society that need scientific discourse, and I got a bit depressed.

My eventual conversion to a sort of spiritual atheism took me about 20 years, starting in my teens. I no longer believe in god as a figurehead, but rather a sort of energy that connects us all. It’s been incredibly freeing and feels more moral and loving than anything any church I ever went to as a kid taught me.…
