Pretty sure this is the one and only time that Toyota Camry is the right answer.

Pretty sure the 1985 Subaru 4wd Turbo RX was the forbear to the Subaru STI, not a Mazda hatch virtually nobody bought.

I’m still nominating the 2008-2011 Subaru Impreza. God, what a completely meh design on that generation Impreza. Every time I see one I’m like, “oh Jesus I forgot they looked like rolling amorphous blobs for a while.”

I was in high school in the 80s and a friend of mine drove an Edsel to school. Wrap your mind around that. But yeah, most of us had cars from the late 70s. If you were lucky enough to have a car.

Honda Del Sol

In 1990, it was an option on all models. AWD became standard in 1996.

Why are the Japanese ads full of white Americans? Who exactly was Honda’s target with this thing?

For a Fiero guy, this could be dream come true at $800. Not the car for me but it is for someone. I say NP for that someone.

The AWD on these vans was hardly worth noting. They were top heavy and, well, just plain heavy. I remember one bad winter in Reno where there was about 8 inches of unplowed snow in my neighborhood. I took my friend home one night and when we got to the bottom of the hill where he lived, he said I should let him out

Oh God, not that old saw again.

My only beef with the lineup of cars in Season 2 was that the Ghia clearly has modern (21st century) rims on it. Really bugged me when I saw it on the show. My two faves are the Toyota van and Bob’s Camry. Really takes me back to middle school to see such nice examples running around.

How about - all cars sound like they have a V8 under the hood. I remember an episode of CHiPS that featured a 1979 Subaru GLF. They dubbed in the sound of a roaring V8 for the car during a car chase. Uh, yeah no.

Damn, buncha haters on today. I like this thing. NP.

Subarus were offered in brown in the 70s. But my favorite is the ‘85-’86 GL and GL10 in chocolate brown with white spoke rims. Damn fine looking cars. Oh and the 2010-2014 Outbacks could be had in brown as well, although honestly it wasn’t the best look on that generation Outback.

You can still find them on the west coast.

LOVE B series pickups. If I could find a decent pre-’94 B2300 4x4 extended cab, I’d drive it proudly forever

Using “farmer red” diesel in a new car would negate the warranty. It’s also illegal to use it in personal vehicles in a lot of states. It’s dyed red so a red residue shows up in the engine and tailpipe.

A small price to pay for not causing an accident.

The 90s didn’t start the trend. For me, you have to go back to the 70s when American car makers started freaking out over the new Japanese imports.  Ford Pinto/Mercury Bobcat, Gremlin, Pacer, Citation, etc. All of them are examples of American companies trying to stay relevant in a gas crisis/small import world and

Yes, thank you. Every time my parents smuggly tell me that they’re saving money on motel rooms by driving their $50k RV, I want to just laugh.
