Good to see some Caitlin Moran love! It's maybe not a "great" book, but there's a fantastic narrative energy about it. It's also largely hilarious and, speaking as a former hopelessly nerdy teenaged girl, I related to quite a lot of it.

Yes, that crossed my mind too, but I think she's just a bit too frivolous and naive (although I think her sincere interest in the Russian refugees has been one of the better plot lines of the season so far). Plus, similar to what other people have been discussing in regards to Tom's relationship with Lady Mary, I like

Yes, I saw most of that last year when they showed it on PBS— unfortunately I missed R2 and the beginning of Henry IV, Part I, but caught the rest. I thought Hiddleston was excellent.

Well played.

So, exit Miss Bunting, and not a moment too soon. It's nice to see Tom standing up for himself. And as much as I disliked her, I'm glad they didn't have her get killed in a freak cable-car accident or something, because that would make Tom sad, and I want him to be happy.
And Edith. Oblivious, reckless, self-centered

Thanks— I'm definitely focusing on the histories for the moment. I've read bits of Henry V, but none of the others.

Friday: I finished Richard III. A friend let me borrow a few Shakespeare plays I hadn't read yet, and this was the last of the set (I'm not going to read every single one, but I am trying to take care of the major works). I saw a live production of it my senior year of high school, and being familiar with the basics

I know I've read this book, but I have almost zero memory of the plot. I do recall that there seemed to be a dearth of likeable characters, the protagonist included. The movie looks pretty, at least, and I am quite fond of Ms. Wasikowska. (This has been a trenchant insight into popular culture. You are all welcome.)

Pretty much exactly the same story for me. I had heard of them, but never listened to any of their stuff, and within two or three songs I was thinking, "Why haven't I picked up on these guys before?". I'm definitely looking forward to hearing the album.

I'm the same way— I feel as though I should like her (Miss Bunting, that is), since she's an intelligent, independent, progressive-minded woman, and I love that she's taken an interest in the beleaguered Daisy. But she's so spiteful. Daisy's speech should have put a rest to last night's argument— in fact, Miss Bunting

I joined Discus/The A.V. Club, after an embarrassingly long time as a lurker, so there's that. Otherwise, let's see:
-I discovered that every episode of "Inspector Morse" is streaming for free on Hulu, much to my delight. I've seen quite a lot of it over the years, but certainly not every single one. So far I've
