Sounds like a good backup business plan. I love pho myself. :)

What are you talking about the price being the same? I remember them easily being in the $2k+ range. My siblings and I bought one of these for my Mom (notice the $2500 price tag, not to mention my income was about half of what it is today!), and it turned out to be a turd of a machine: [www.epinions.com]

That Toshiba looks interesting, but too much bezel (especially on the bottom). I wish they'd put a 16:10 display on it instead.

Me too. I feel your pain. :(

ROFL.

Except the app checks to make sure you stay checked in at the gym for at least 30 minutes...

Very true.

OMFG. I am speechless.

LOL, it's so funny that people think Giz is biased toward Apple when they have clearly been given the cold shoulder by Apple since the iPhone4 incident. Why won't stupid readers realize that Apple is the most valuable tech company in the world for a reason? Their products are simply that appealing to consumers, end of

I've always been interested in lightweight but fully functional laptops, but price (and lack of performance) was a huge deterrent back then. It's not so much an issue today, which is why I think they are becoming so popular now.

I was intrigued by the Chromebooks at first (especially the form factor), but the OS has yet to mature, and I think a tablet like the Asus Transformer (with the docking keyboard) is a more attractive proposition for the money.

Nice! I keep meaning to go to Best Buy and check it out sometime, but never seem to get around to it (which is probably a good thing since I've already shelled out enough money for my 2011 MBA 13").

True, but unlike the rest of the machines mentioned, the Vaio Z is obviously not aimed at the mass market given the ridiculous price premium.

Yeah, the MBA isn't meant to be a serious workhorse, but a rather good all-around general purpose machine.

The Vaio Z is a playtoy for the rich, nothing more. Unlike the other machines on this post, I doubt I'll ever see one in person.

Or do what I did, and work through the holidays!

Reminds me of many years ago, in eBay's early days, when I purchased a cool computerized talking desk phone. When I finally received the package, there were dead little cockroaches in the box. I was so grossed out that I tossed it out and didn't even bother trying to get my money back.

I fear you will be unsatisfied for a long time then. :p
