Are no other AT&T shareholders & customers pissed at the management responsible for agreeing to the generous breakup concessions? They had to have known there was a good chance this deal wasn't going through, but it wasn't their own money to risk, so they decided to put up a generous offer. They need to be canned

80k people decided to make a pilgrimage to a small town in Spain (compared to only a few hundred visitors in prior years) and then see the Smurfs movie? Man, the Smurfs have some highly dedicated fans! ;)

Agreed. The patent system needs a serious overhaul.

But what they're using to fight HTC is not really innovation. It's blatantly obvious, and should never have been allowed to be patented to begin with IMO.

"all accessories and Apps are made for Apple products and not other companies."

True. I don't want to see Apple end up like Polaroid: sitting pretty on your patents and not allowing anyone else to license your ideas, forcing them to innovate and come up with new & better products. Look at where Polaroid is now.

I played with one at the Verizon store yesterday and I was shocked at how low the speaker volume was too.

"over 80,000 people visited Juzcar in the six-month blue span"

Neat. How long would it take to get the runway back to working order after something like this happens? I'd love to see this at all the airports that I might fly to. ;)

Serious? :)

Dream on. I don't think so. Not impossible (look at what Netflix and RIM CEOs have done, for example), but highly unlikely given how much money Apple has, and the culture that Steve Jobs instilled in his company.

I think the point was that they're pressing the issue on obvious software patents which shouldn't have been patentable to begin with. No one said Apple shouldn't protect their IP that is truly innovative and unique.

Well written arguments, Mat. I guess I can see why Apple is pursuing this path. I mean, I love Apple hardware designs and you'd have to pry my MacBook Air, Mac mini, and iPhone from my cold, dead hands, but their OSes leave something to be desired. In many ways I prefer Windows 7 to OS X Lion, and Android to iOS.

Agreed, or HTC, or someone who will actually put those patents to good use in defense against something like this...

Good.

Not really. Asian food uses a lot more veggies, and tofu—which is pretty much nonexistent in western foods.

Let's hope not. With NFC technology, everything should be wireless now - charging, transferring files between devices, etc.

Haha!
