“Beto” is a Spanish nickname for “Roberto”. His name is Robert. Someone in O’Rourke’s neighborhood probably started calling him “Beto” when he was little and it stuck for the rest of his life. Trump thinks it’s “phony” because he doesn’t understand anything that’s not one of the various shades of Caucasian.

Props to Beto O’Rourke! And even before the mass shooting in El Paso his language in condemning Trump’s bigotry has been clear, bold and to the point. He has not been intimidated, even calling out the media (Fox) for enabling Trump’s white supremacy/nationalism.
