If by "our long, national nightmare" you mean "the wheezing death rattle of civilization", then yes.

I suspect the reason I feel so much more charitable toward this season is that I don't feel like I have to make that huge effort of suspending disbelief. The show seems to have stepped further enough away from pretending to be a linear procedural narrative that the more indulgent moments can breathe now.

I'm your polar opposite. I thought the first two seasons were — despite some elements I really liked — so outlandishly unrealistic that it was impossible to care about any of it.

Most of the time, when something otherwise inexplicable like this happens, it's an office ego issue. Someone got fired or left, someone else got promoted, and the new person feels like they have to make the inherited couch smell like their farts and theirs only.

It's still cancelled, and now your keyboard is all full of money crumbs.
