Oh, I completely agree. But that’s about how the car impacts you, not how other people view you as a result of your car.

I did actually pitch him on a current gen Lexus IS....he dismissed it as an “old people’s car”............

I hate the internet and its propensity to allow for insta-snark.  Just let people enjoy things.  Or would your rather everyone drive Camrys and follow the speed limit?

...it’s costs are ridiculous, nobody wanted it...

“who is this even for??”

Automation will happen for the same reason outsourcing to Mexico and China etc happened, because management will always look for ways to cut costs. So yes, the technology allows for it, but it’s management that will relentlessly pursue it.

Ridiculous is an understatement. It’s been the most costly thing in military history, well over a trillion dollars for a few piece of shit planes designed for a world that no longer exists. One of the many nails in America’s coffin of now irreversible decline.

Psh...yeah. Only 760hp..? Might as well have bought a Prius!!11!1!!11!1!!

Agree. This 8 GC has great proportions, but every single styling detail is like fingernails on a fucking chalkboard. All of the surface detailing is stupid and fussy, the panel cutlines are all a jangly dissonance, we apparently don’t get a real Hofmeister Kink anymore...etc. etc. This is an ugly-ass car.

Eh. BMW just doesn’t do it for me anymore. This is certainly one of their better modern designs, but even then it’s rather forgettable (I’m sure it’ll age well).

Thanks for sharing your story.  It seems like he has personally touched a lot of people.  His influence has taken many forms.

Davey was my best and only friend from k-6th grade and really gave credence to the final words in the movie Stand By Me, “I never had any friends later on like I had when I was 12.” Rather, I am 43 now and I still have never found a friend quite like him later in life. Sadly I will never get to tell him face to face

From the fanciest black tie dinner party to the lowest gathering of hobos and drunks around a trash can fire, there is one thing that will alway remain true: people with guns ruin fucking everything.

Those old cars weren’t built to last a long time, they were just easy to fix...

3 years because auto makers know the average lease is 3 years. Then its on to the next.

I agree with you, and I’m only 26. I like older BMW’s from the 90's, when the brand was more than just marketing, when buying an M car meant you got the ultimate driving machine, with no compromises— everything was set up perfectly in cars like the E34 M5, E46 M3, E39 M5, you didn’t need a million suspension settings.

I’m working on a time machine. Hang in there.

Becoming delusional and nostalgic : text book old bastard.

If he’s going to be in prison, maybe put him in one with some leprechauns. Like Riker’s Ireland.

Let me drop a little lawyer on you:

Q: You’re 70 now?

A: That’s correct

Q: So, we’re to believe you’re a gentle-driving retiree, is that it?

A: Why, yes, sonny, that’s right.
