i got my m2 about a year ago and have become and avid motorcyclist in the year that followed. i am in my late thirties and have no previous riding history, i am exactly who HD should be trying to appeal to! but instead they are making a $30k electric bike that nobody will buy... this is the pricing on their 500cc…

also, knowing how to drive stick and operate a clutch will help a lot... i think it’s possible to do the msf course if you don’t, but knowing how will make it easier

the R3 is a pretty solid starter bike, as mentioned already the SV650 is the miata of motorcycles.
