Why should it not be a joke? People make jokes out of deaths and tragic accidents, but they don't get nearly the flak of someone who makes a rape joke.

I think the issue isn't really about whether you can or cannot make rape jokes. No matter what you're joking about, if someone in your workplace is offended, you should stop. And no one should be fired for saying "hey, this one thing really bothers me."

How about calling it a "murder room" or "torture room"?

I mean, yeah...but this is just saying "you're stupid and heartless, go learn something that should be obvious." It's not really an effective education, and, to be honest, it's not really obvious, especially to those not affected by it. Jokes about death can be both funny and genuinely meaningful. Jokes about rape…

You absolutely can joke about rape. You can joke about anything. Joking about something does not mean you condone it. If you can't joke about something from time to time because it's a serious topic then I feel sorry for you.

A lot of humor has been found in aspects of horrible things. I'm reminded of some holocaust jokes...
