I believe that we will discover a diminishing return on safety features because we each tend to assume a relatively constant exposure to risk. This means that because we feel safer in a modern vehicle with airbags, lane warnings, and good braking systems, we adopt driving behavior that is different than if we were in

That is a sweet Ford CD4-platform car / new Flex / new Explorer / (possibly) new Fusion. It will totally be worth $5k in three years at the DYSCOUNT MOTOZ lot on the corner of 199th and Full Depreciation.

Don’t know what to say to you. I did not say anything specifically about the Rockies but congratulations on your trip and on your Subaru. Thank goodness you survived the terrible headwind and one time encounter with dusty conditions.

Dear Urban Recreators:

“There are faults in both arguments, sure, but $150 is pocket change to a large company. It’s less than pocket change, actually. It’s completely insignificant.

Anyone who thinks this is a good idea has not driven a convertible J-Car. This car has some of the worst driving dynamics of any car manufactured. The chassis has little to no torsional strength and it shows. It drives like crap, the cowl shakes, the doors flap shut like sagging window shutters, the seats feel like

“...chased a dually on rural backroads.”

Thanks for the education. I had no idea that they drank that much oil. Add massive oil consumption as another one of this “very robust” motor’s distinguishing characteristics.

Judging by the soot coming out of the exhaust under load, I think that V-10 wants you to spend a lot more time at WOT.

This reads like a poorly-drafted press release pasted into a paid advertising of a dying print publication.

For the purpose of providing actual numbers with which to compare “about 55 kilometers on the road, and that charging time is around three hours” (whatever the hell that means) here is the most recent test of the largest 6r model as tested by Nebraska in June 2015.

“Alternatively, both motors can both power the tractor for maximum acceleration.”

“No one is paying for the badge.”

Your post was about emissions, not about component reliability. Combustion temp is obviously related to oxygen present at combustion. If you want to change the subject to cost and reliability, that is fine, but my point about your original post remains, emissions technology is successfully managing NOX. VAG not

At least they share Trump’s taste for poorly-fitting shiny shiny suits cut in 1993...

A better response would be to simply set emissions standards and let the market determine the most cost-effective way to meet those standards. If making a diesel engine meet those standards is cost-prohibitive, so be it. But technology evolves and, generally, becomes cheaper. And the prices of various energy sources

Doesn’t EGR (lower combustion temp) and SCR (post-combustion urea) take care of the nitrogen oxides?

Manufacturers could still have service centers. Direct sale does not have to mean no factory service and repair. Right?

Really good point. Maybe the difference is in the process. I don’t know, but I doubt that Tesla would try and stick me with “lifetime wax” and “security-etched” auto glass and “Northwest Package” splashguards and rubber floor mats by pretending that these crap items are non-negotiable.

I’m inclined toward the Buick version because it suggests upward mobility toward which I aspire.
