I recently rewatched the movies and I also felt that Fellowship was the best of them. I felt that it really holds up as a movie, but that they could really use some clean-up on the special effects. The pacing of the first movie is very good, with a good balance of character-setting and action.

So funny, I had believed​ blue laws were something we only had in the South. Used to be that Wal Mart could only open the grocery part of their stores on Sunday morning. They'd have the rest roped off and you'd hear them begging customers over the PA to please not shop the non-grocery side until after 2:00.
