You might be the only person who considers pre-2009 Acuras ugly. I mean, lots of people aren't fans of the styling but it is far from ugly.

Well if you track a car of course you'll spend a lot of money on brakes. Mine is just a DD that I cruise with every once in a while, I probably won't have to change the rotors until I sell it. Rotors tend to last longer when they aren't held at racing temperature.

The sales clerk and I got to talking while I was waiting on paperwork and detailing, he took 2 calls about it in the hour we were talking. That's a lot of effort for the dealer to go through after we had already agreed on the price :)

The brembos are the same as on any other performance car with 18 inch wheels. It came with fresh brakes when I bought it, and I haven't put enough miles on it to tell how long they last.

VTEC just kicked in yo! The Acura is more refined than the G and more reliable than the E90. Also there isn't a constant stream of improved new models coming off lease to drive residuals down, as is the case with the G and 3 series. There's a 3 year gap after 2008 before Acura made a TL that wasn't ugly, and the 4th

Yeah, the salesman took me back to the detail shop and we pulled it for a test drive. They finished detailing it while we were doing the paperwork.

its no sports car. What's it do about 5.5 0-60? Pass.

What about it? It's a great car on paper, and I love the idea of a RWD V8 wagon, but I would never daily drive a Chrysler product from that era. NVH and interior quality are disasters and the reliability just isn't there.

It is one of the most powerful motors Honda has ever made in a car with an interior and ride quality that would rival any comparable BMW or Mercedes. Despite being FWD the VTEC noise is fantastic and the shifter is sublime. It amazes me that Honda didn't sell more manuals, their shifter is the best on the market and I

I drive 90% city and I'll get 19 mpg when I treat it nicely, 15 mpg normally. It doesn't bother me at all though as I only have to fill the tank every other week. The fun factor is well worth it and I can transport 4 adults in comfort. If I'm taking a road trip then I'll get 25-29 mpg depending on altitude and speed.

Hey I have an El Camino too! What year is yours? Mine's an 86.

I bought mine on the Gulf Coast too... what does that say about the 4th gen TL? To be fair I've driven one before and I liked it, but only while I was inside of it.

Don't compare Honda automatics to manuals. They solved the reliability issues by the time the 3rd gen TL-S came out but the manual version of that car is the best car Honda has made in the past 10 years. The TL-S manual shifter is sublime, every Honda fan knows this, and it drives the value up by a considerable

Spot on with this comment, except for dealer service. I pay $60 for a dealer synthetic oil change (at roughly 6k miles because I like those sub-6 second 0-60 runs). They try to charge another $25 each for tire rotation and tire balancing but I told my service adviser I'd pay for the balance and they could rotate the

Acura recommends that timing belt service be done at 100k miles or 7 year intervals. It was overdue when I purchased the car so I had the dealer pay for 70% of the service as a condition of sale. Since they were already taking the whole front end off the engine I paid $300 extra to replace all of the seals, so this

Objectively, think about total cost of ownership. My car may be relatively expensive for its age and performance but it is stone-cold reliable and it is at the bottom of its depreciation curve. Any loss in value it experiences while I own it will be a direct result of the miles I put on it. It is a car that I have

I've wanted to buy a TL-S since it first came out while I was in high school. I've been watching the market closely ever since it came out and depreciation has started to bottom out based on age, now it is mostly based on mileage and I don't commute far so I don't put many miles on my DD. Also, Honda has a very strong

I bought it for $21,200 off the lot. In 2018 I will be able to sell it for roughly $15,000 with around 100,000 miles. I may be missing something, but I don't think there is a car on the market that would only have $6,000 in depreciation after 4 years and 35,000 miles. The monthly payment doesn't bother me, I could pay

Heh, I made this burner to troll Jezebel commenters. I'm not sure ihatewomen would go over as well, but feel free to spread the hate!

The difference is there are plenty of great Porsches on the market, new and used and at many different price points. You can't buy an Acura that is both more stylish and better performing than the one I have, except for the NSX which sells for $50k used.
