But that’s kind of my point - dismantling any lithium battery is awkward, not just the ones used in cars. There are better battery technologies on the horizon, and better (possibly) methods of powering vehicles, like hydrogen, which can be refueled like a regular car.

EV batteries use the same cells as laptops, just a lot more of them. This actually makes them less economically viable to recycle because there’s a lot more work involved dismantling them.

More importantly, where are they sourcing the lithium for the batteries from, and what is the plan for disposing of end-of-life batteries?

This is exactly what I’ve been saying will happen for several years now - car manufacturers will start switching production to autonomous cars that will be used as pool cars, summoned by app on demand.
