I’m probably more moderate than most jezebel readers on these issues since I have a BS in economics and believe there’s a lot of room for well intentioned people to disagree on stuff this complex. Macroeconomists are still arguing to this day whether the New Deal helped, hurt, or did nothing, and I’ve read intelligent

I dread the day I inevitably ruin an entire load of my nice clothes AND a cherished $20+ lipsticks by leaving one in a jacket pocket. I know it’s going to happen eventually, and honestly can’t believe I’ve dodged the bullet (lol, lipstick pun) this long. Also, when we were kids we would stuff crayons down the heating

My experience living with men for the past 10+ years: they generally don’t deep clean bathrooms. Every male roommate I’ve had would let communal bathrooms fester until I inevitably broke and cleaned up their shit, piss, and beard/pube trimmings. I’m pretty sure one guy would use my towels and gave me a wart, too.

My last apartment building had a dryer that we had to run twice to actually dry our clothes even on high. I wasted so much money on laundry there. It was a constant struggle to keep enough quarters around. Current building only has one washer and dryer for 12+ occupants (who sometime leave shit in there for literal

I’d rather save $10 and have an excuse to read for an hour in the laundromat. But hauling your shit there and back is the worst, so I get the appeal of laundry service if they pick up/drop off at your apartment.

I love gardening, and would kill for the privilege of an outdoor space to maintain. But I live in the Bay Area and will likely die a pauper in a shoe box who works 60+ hours a week and makes what’s considered good money literally anywhere else in the country. Yes, I am incredibly bitter and yes, this rental market has

Cleaning a bathroom, actually cleaning it not wiping down surfaces and giving the toilet a scrub, takes way longer than laundry. I spent like two hours last week just scrubbing my shower and it looked no different when I was done.

Do you listen to podcasts? I love drinking wine and listening to a podcast while I fold laundry. Podcasts and wine make any chore endurable.

I only watched the first two seasons, but I never understood the intense hate for Lori. I realize people found the actress annoying and the character was poorly written, but people talked about her like she was literally the devil.

Also, love your avatar so much.

I used to hate it, but I will take anything these days. A guy super awkwardly told me I looked like Scarlett Johansson in front of my partner at the grocery store yesterday. MADE MY FUCKING DAY. Honestly been beeming since - I need to work on my self esteem lol.

This makes me happy. That’s all. Keep enjoying your sweet cats.

I agree with all of this so much, especially running around getting scrapped up and not worrying about the sun taking it’s inevitable toll on my skin lol.

I personally don’t think Keynesian economic policies have fallen completely out of favor, although you are right that starting with Reagan neoliberal economic policies became more popular with republicans. Even Trump is pushing infrastructure spending as a way to create jobs, which is pretty Keynesian. There are some

I keep repeating myself, but I am so baffled by peoples choices here. I am realizing as I comment that the reason my mother and I had a shitty relationship when I was a kid is that I always craved independence and control and she gave zero fucks what I wanted and was very controlling. I guess other people had

I am so confused by this! Did y’all have parents that actually bought you shit you wanted? Because “everything being free” as a child meant, in practicality, I had to wear clothes I hated and was mocked for and had to eat food that was disgusting or go hungry. But I had a big family and my mom did not give a fuck

That should be such an easy choice! “Everything being free” as a child actually meant that I had no money and someone else decided everything that I ate and wore. I started working informally when I was 12 0r 13 because my mother was both frugal and controlling, and as a younger siblings all I got were hand-me-downs.

That’s a good point and thank you for raising it. Huma is a media target because she’s Muslim. I loved all the Huma/Hillary slash fic the alt-right put out last year.

Oh, that’s a little harsh. They’re not all dumb, some are just vile racists willing to cut off their nose to spite their face.

And did they forget the 12 years collective Bush years? Although to their credit, Roosevelt’s presidency and the New Deal marked a huge shift in government spending and the public’s view on the president/federal government’s role in regulating the economy. I doubt the people making these memes know or care about
