Ah.. I just looked it up. They call it Retro Matte. Russian Red is just Matte. I do have All Fired Up, which is also Retro Matte and I don’t mind the dryness! I actually love that. I have very unsteady hands so this comes in really handy when applying :)

Really, Ruby Woo is hassle? Never used it, but I think Russian Red is fairly easy to apply for being a red shade. I use Brick as the lipliner and it works perfectly!

So I just tried Urban Decay’s new Bad Blood yesterday, and OMG, it has incredible staying power... even better than MAC Russian Red. It’s a little darker, I think, but still a blue base. But it’s $22, and MAC is what, $15, now?? Definitely try it!!

I generally skew with matte for bright colors. Super glossy brights are an epic pain in the ass to keep from migrating, and can easily skew a bit teen pop star circa mid 90’s for my liking.

Oh, okay, gotcha! Generally, I think a matte or cream finish is best for the brights. A handful of people will look great in a glossy, but those same people can also look good in matte/cream, while it doesn’t work the other way ‘round.
