“Equality looks like oppression for the privileged” (or however the quote goes).

I wish more people read history in America...Nazi Germany did not happen overnight, and it was converted from a democratic republic to an authoritarian fascist dictatorship largely through legal, democratic means [with a lot of street violence to “help it along”].
I meant “isn’t”
Let’s be honest. Republicans are just looking for an excuse to murder all of us. They lost their stupid “culture war” and now just want revenge. That’s all Toad Dick’s election was about and that’s all they care about now that it looks like he’s going to lose.
Lest anyone has forgotten, ANTIFA was pretty much a reaction to Trump and his policies to begin with, so in a sense, Trump created ANTIFA, just not intentionally. Simply by being terrible, he created his own enemy. Convenient!
It’s a missed opportunity though. Just flip the Fox playbook. Hardball the guy until the administration closes all the doors to your network, then harp on that ENDLESSLY. It’s an attack on freedom of speech, it’s attacking the freedom of press, he wants to control the media. He’s a coward. His administration can’t…
Thank you! Way too many people, especially those in the corporate press, seem to think the pathological feelings of know-nothings on Facebook are as valid as actual, knowable, factual reality and it’s getting people killed.
We’re saving money to move to Mexico if things go real bad. At present you can still travel there with quarantine practices.
the idea of a Democratic Senator penning the leftist equivalent of the Tom Cotton NYT op-ed piece about invading cities is unthinkable.
This kid deserves a bullet to the head, as do his trailer park warrior parents.
And yet the media will both sides calls for political violence. There was a shitty article in the Washington Post yesterday (https://www.washingtonpost.com/technology/2020/09/14/violent-antipolice-memes-surge/) about how the “far left” is starting to engage in the same violent rhetoric that the right has engaged in…
Strap in kids! It’s gonna be a long way to November (and, just because I’m a pessimist, an awful December while voting gets sorted)!
Current observations show dark matter existing as giant clouds that galaxies and even clusters of galaxies sit inside. The amount of dark matter on one side of our solar system is balanced with the amount on the other, so as to not have a serious effect on orbits as tiny as the earth and moon (compared to a galaxy).
I’m not a scientist, and I have a question that may be an exception to the rule that: “There are no stupid questions.” Years ago, scientists figured out how much mass there is in the earth and the moon. And that mass was just enough to keep the moon in its current orbit. But then we were told that the earth…
a frustrating case of reality not agreeing with theory
True. We know it has the properties of interacting with large-weak forces and not small, strong forces, but that’s pretty much the limit of what can honestly claim to know about whatever ‘it’ is.
Yup, that’s the point of science, theorize, observe, prove or re-theorize.
“This missing stuff is called dark matter, and, despite constituting the vast majority of matter in the universe, it doesn’t emit, absorb, or reflect light”
Every one of these are outstanding. Thanks for sharing this.
Space is so fucking cool.
