i was right there with you, even down to thinking that he would ONLY cause a rupture in the party IF he “lost” to Hillary. i kinda still think that he might cause that fracture IF he loses to Biden, but am less confident of it than i was in 2016.

i have experience with this same phenomenon myself.  i was able to reason with them (but im a male - they might've been deferring to me as a result of that fact)
