I'm a huge fan of Inglourious Basterds, and Melanie Laurent is the biggest reason why. She should have received an Oscar nomination; her performance is extraordinary and I love how she truly is the film's heart and soul. I wish the film had been all about her but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I heard Tarantino was actually worried about changing Jackie's skin color from white to black, but he got a letter from Leonard saying he thought Pam Grier was a phenomenal choice.

I still need to see it (and read the book). I do like hearing it be called Tarantino's most mature work. You can see those flashes in his other fi;ms, but they seem more centred around specific characters rather than the whole narrative (i.e. Shoshanna in Inglourious Basterds)

Regarding the gender politics in Anomalisa, I actually felt the ending did a pretty great job at subverting the audience's expectations.
