Carol and 45 Years were two of my favorite films from 2015. Such exquisite acting all around. I'm thrilled Charlotte Rampling finally got an Oscar nomination, and for such a deserving performance too.

Fair enough. I adored it (it was my second favorite film of 2015), but I can see why it could have been overhyped.

Thank you! It feels surreal and a bit nerve-wracking, but I'm excited to see where it goes.

For a film that, given its genre, probably didn't require a good central performance, she goes above and beyond. She's terrific in it and that final moment when she cries at the end is beautifully done.

Really? I thought Amy had a tremendous amount of agency, precisely because it laid bare her addiction struggles as nothing particularly shocking. There was a pleasant simpleness instead of playing up the tragedy of her life; there wasn't any need to heighten it.

Meiko Kaji was so great in Lady Snowblood. Few can balance being so icy with a subtle current of heartbreak like she did in that film.
