You made me *snort*!
You made me *snort*!
I learned it all from Patricia Highsmith and M.F.K. Fisher (have you read her?).
Well, I think you are the cat's pyjamas!
Chocolate mousse? French apple pie? Pumpkin pie with toasted marshmallow topping? Pecan pie with bourbon and ginger?
If cookery isn't a passion, shall I airmail you a homemade pie?
It's my favorite novel of Highsmith's I've read so far. Not to say her crime fiction isn'y brilliant, but The Price of Salt has such a fantastic balance between the sweet and the unsentimental, it's a marvel.
I'll admit a huge reason why I connected was I adored Highsmith's novel and, personally, couldn't have dreamed of a better adaptation. Seeing a great adaptation of a personal favorite will always bump it up quite a bite more.
Sorry to hear about the insomnia. Has it lead to any late night cookery jags or cleaning frenzies?
I just saw it last weekend, and I'm planning on seeing it again soon. It's my choice for best film of the year, although there's still so much to see.
A very good point!
I'm so glad to see you here! Your company has been missed. I hope work is treating you well!
I hated the book too.
Huzzah!
Fuck yes!!
Very good to know.
Probably that and a general attitude of contempt regarding politics that stretches back centuries.
I can't wait to read it then. And see the film.
I think 2:1 is a bit higher than a B, but I got the equivalent to a Desmond (to shamelessly use the term) in undergrad.
Hooray on the safety net and the copy editor job!
That just makes my hopes soar even higher! I can't wait.
