it depends on the center- there’s a lot that goes in to maintaining a center itself- rent, bills, food, cleaning (sanitation is extremely key, we have three different levels of bleach/water combo for different situations), maintaining functioning and safe equipment for the kids, toys etc. for small independent centers…

It gets really old when white women don’t understand or attempt to understand the meaning of certain songs written by people of color, or even any piece of clothing or accessories from other cultures like headdresses and bindis, yet they still claim they’re doing “respectful tributes” when they use them just for fun…

as a former teacher i’ve seen parents scold their kids for not hugging me goodbye at the end of the day or before holiday breaks, etc.

This is important because so many people encourage kids to hug or kiss people they might not want to - whether it’s an adult or other kid. I mean. The intent is not bad, it’s cute or charming.

This article is the perfect response to those who say talks around consent need to happen in high school or college. No, teaching there must be consent to touch should be from day one.
