A grand gets you your component groupset. Then all you need is a frame, headset, forks, wheels, tires, pedals, stem, bars, seatpost and saddle!
Problem is the bike I have now was no-expense-spared build exactly how I wanted it. It’s just becoming obsolete. Pro level old bike, vs new but entry level is a tough choice.
Get one with disc mounts!

Wrangler duratracs? They’re big and heavy but they do go for some time. I think the ones on my truck are from 2012 and still kicking (don’t use them in the snow anymore though)

I don’t know what the rules are down there, but it WAS them if it was where I live. Doesn’t matter if someone pushed you into them, you should have left enough space to stop or avoid.
Problem with designated shelves is that different shelves are better for different things. I’m stuck with my meat on the warm shelf, and your milk keeps freezing!
