I don’t think he meant little in terms of quality. He’s right—compared to other Star Wars films, a lot of new memorable melodic material was not introduced. You have Rey’s theme, the Resistance theme, and Kylo Ren’s leitmotif. Everything else is either a reference to older melodies or underscore.
