The last time I had some blood taken, there was a Tv on nearby. Watching that as well a listening was a much better distraction than music alone. You could try taking some video clips on a smart phone to watch something funny and familiar

Game of Thrones has a tendancy to cast northeners as men of the north (lots of planets have a north) So I'm assuming Chris Ecclestone will be playing a man of the north, sadly I don't know the books well enough to know who that could be. Personally I'm hoping for a zombie gallifrean hybrid.
