I literally said that modern media culture is TOO obsessed with spoilers and that media has adapted to it in some damaging ways, not that caring about spoilers at all is bad, hence I said that even I have certain stories that I try not to spoil for myself. I’m not shifting goal posts. My entire point is that even if

That’s not a bad point; it can be good to throw some antivenom in there, unless the whole thread is just pure toxic garbage.

Yep, amazing how these huge controversies always circle around the same subjects... Like, right now there’s a huge shitstorm online about a woman in The Last of Us 2 being super muscular. Tons of people are screaming about how unrealistic it is for her to be that buff in a post apocalyptic world.

That’s the thing; it’s literally never worth it to actually debate with these people. I slip into every once in a while because sometimes I can’t help myself but at the end of the day their views are so idiotic and nonsensical that there’s absolutely no reasoning with them.

The fact that these people are even being pandered to and addressed in this way is so fucking frustrating. All they deserve is to be either demeaned or, better yet, completely ignored. They’re not even remotely worth debating with or making qualifying statements for, because their view of the world is so transparently

True, true. Also, in my opinion, current gen games still look pretty incredible. The fact that Red Dead Redemption 2 can run on a base PS4 is absolutely bonkers. Naughty Dog’s PS4 games still blow me away. I feel like this batch of consoles hasn’t gotten nearly as long in the tooth as the PS3/360 did.

Nice. Very excited to see what the new games will be looking like, though I hope we get to see something that’s next gen-exclusive and not just cross-gen. The cross-gen games on Xbox One/PS4 were significantly less impressive.

Stoked out of my mind that this is the team behind Black Flag and Origins, my two favorite AC titles. Odyssey was really good but I hope this one feels a little more focused and not as bloated as Odyssey.

Totally! Origins and Odyssey are both great, though I’d give Origins the edge because the setting is so incredible.

It’s taken almost all of the enjoyment out of discussing media online. Rabid hoards of hyper-entitled fans are the worst.

But in all seriousness, none of the plot points that leaked are even remotely outlandish or shocking for a Last of Us story. That’s what I don’t get; people are aghast at what happens in the plot when nothing that’s been revealed is even surprising if you just think about the logic of the world for half a second.

Can we just delete fandoms from the internet instead? The consensus that is metastasizing around this game already is so childish and insufferable. People have such an unhealthy relationship with artists and writers these days; no open mindedness, no willingness to consider different angles on a given theme or

None of it is even remotely outside the realm of possibility for what could happen in a Last of Us sequel. People are overreacting to on-paper plot points without any of the context that 15 hours of storytelling provides. It’s laughable.

So pointing out that our spoiler-obsessed culture is bad for fandoms and art itself somehow makes me as bad as people yelling spoilers out at random people on the internet?

Stealth releases are an interesting concept but Apex Legends is free, whereas Ghost is a $60 title. I’m not saying it’s a huge deal, it’s just weird to me how quiet that game has been when it’s literally just a few months away.

The character isn’t trans, she’s just a muscular cis woman. Idiots are screaming about there being a trans character because REEEEE SJW’S

Same. I’m super intrigued to see what they do with this plot. Sounds really good.

The insane thing is that the more I pour over the leaks, nothing in it seems to be “subverting expectations.” It’s all stuff that is perfectly within the realm of possibility for this story. The biggest surprise is the structure of the game (won’t say anything more than that), but in terms of plot points, it’s not

What I mean by “on-paper plot points” is exactly that; the major points of the plot. And major plot points can read very different when bulleted out on a page as opposed to being experienced within the context of a 20 hour story.

Not very close.
