In dealing with executives and higher-up managers, I agree with the person who says leave it out. More words mean less screen space for the actual message, and the fewer non-value-add words you have, the more likely your email will be read. Also consider how long the email will appear on a phone screen, as that's

We are expecting some weather tomorrow.

I think any good garage/workshop area uses a variety of these. My dad had peg-board for the frequently used tools, a couple tall cabinets where he kept power-tools and this awesome drawer piece (scavenged from an old school that was being torn down) that he kept all kinds of odds-and-ends in. Knowing that the zip

Anyone else overwhelmed by the number of Android tablets? I've always owned a Nexus phone, and I'm a little scared of the different skins manufacturers put on Android (thinking of you, Samsung). I wish there was a little more disclosure on what version and flavor of Android was on many of these. Otherwise, I'm

The company I work for usually presents your salary after reviewing how they came to that number, and I think most companies should, especially if it is a competitive industry for attracting new employees.

I had parents of the "put some more car around ya'" attitude.

I had a colleague tell me that she jokes around with another colleague of mine, but she has never met him in person. She and I are both witty with some sarcasm, but the third person that she was joking with is not. He's older, very sweet and always very sincere, and my comments have either fallen flat or been taken

It's really a good idea to have a "closer" in any networking situation, as much as you should also have a good elevator speech about what you do. Otherwise, you end up talking to the same 4-5 people for the duration of the networking event, and you haven't really done what you came to do.

Eww.. sorry to hear that! This is one situation that I think the open-office environment actually works well for us. It's not uncommon for us to just talk over a few rows of cubes when there is something production-impacting/high priority. You want an update? Everybody just shout it out to the one person who will

I'm not a fan of this one. Each category is way to vague. Arranging based on color instead of something standard to taste like IBU's is silly. The arrow-making is pretty horrendous. And, I don't feel like half of it is true, with the exception of things going to Saison.

Cider is not beer, but many places with micro selections will have a few Ciders.

I agree. Sometimes you just want a beer. And classic beer, to me, is a Lager. Sure, there are many different varieties and brands and even micro versions, but a lager should taste like a lager. We very much enjoy Bud Select as our everyday beer, and we buy micros for when we want something different (and really,

In my head, TV is something I do while stationary, so the entire time I'm watching something, I'm thinking about sitting down. It doesn't affect me as much at the gym as it does at home, but home is where I relax in front of the TV, and running/walking just bothers me. It's like it's getting in the way of me

I'm right there with both of you. I do intervals as well, when I'm forced to be inside. I always think that inside, I don't have hills, traffic, and terrain, so I should kill my outdoor pace, and I always think I can run faster after being at my pace for a couple minutes. And then I have to walk for a bit. :)

I am not tall, but I have been stuck on "that" treadmill without a working screen before. When you don't have another option, sometimes you can find someone in your line of sight whose TV you can watch (without them knowing), and turn to the same channel so you have the audio.

Comment on the Bonus - I have used tea a number of times to dye something white into something a dingier/more natural color. Why would you do this? For a mummy costume, a pirate vest, or some other rustic item, of course!

I have one. I wish I would have gone for a more pricey version that has specific temperatures called out on it. My friends have one and it is awesome. However, if you're a microwave user, just switching to an electric kettle will be a major improvement.

Use your seasonal pumpkin carving knives for cutting other squash and the gut-scooper for scooping the seeds and hulling out the insides of the cooked squash.

My husband was obsessed with this method (the idea - he never did it), until I showed him the traditional way. He uses egg whites en masse for egg casseroles (3 doz at a time), and it is actually cheaper to buy eggs and separate them than to buy egg whites in a carton. Plus, it feels way less weird to me.

This is a sneeky and awesome trick! I will definitely be putting it to work. I love homemade breads, but we don't have that convenient "always sunny" spot in our house, and our dryer is in the basement (that was my mom's trick — put it on top of the dryer!)
